Roadtrip to WA-OR-CA 2010

Life Changes

So many life changes, so many adjustments plus so many trips that it took me a while to blog again. So, for recap and updates: September 2010, we let go of the three bedroom apartment and moved in our 33" Class A RV; October, my mother came to visit us and stayed for a couple of months. So, November  and December we did another road trip to California via scenic Highway 101. Stayed and played along the coast of Oregon, then San Francisco and Los Angeles. Highlights were: The Alcatraz, Golden Bridge, Universal Studios, Disneyland and of course, the beautiful scenic drive to and fro.  We kind of avoided I-5 and often went the long way for exploration and discovery.

January 2011 was my last month from working full time as a Front Office Manager and by February 2011 we left Washington again.

We love back-roads, finding extraordinary places & meeting locals...so we did when we came back to The Big Island of Hawaii on February until March. Last year, we did the four islands: Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island. It was so much fun, there were so much to see and experience with so little time. We pretty much just did island hopping in two weeks. Highlights: {Oahu: The Pearl Harbor Tour, Polynesian Cultural Center and the show "HA, the breath of life"} {Kauai: The Fern Grotto & The island Helicopter Tour by Safari} {Maui:  Haleakala Volcano & The Atlantis Submarine} {Big Island: The Hawaii National Volcano & Hawaii beaches}

So, this year, we focused on one island only...Hawaii! To really discover and intake everything that we could, so we did! We stayed in the Kona side to enjoy all the sun and sand had to offer. We snorkeled at Captain Cook's marine sanctuary, did para-sailing with my mom and my husband's dad, both in their sixties. We boogie board, too. We did zip lining in Kohala and stayed in three different bed and breakfast in Hilo side. We really loved our stay at the Volcano Rainforest Retreat and especially The Falls at Reeds Island. Must-see & must-experience!!!

It was amazing! The Kilauea Caldera did some awesome explosions when we  were simply standing and taking some photos of it! Some people we spoke to, claimed that they've been there for three years now and no activity like that of what we've seen until then. Aside from the Thurston Lava tube tour, we just had to do the Volcano Helicopter Tour by Blue Hawaiian. We left the day before the airports in the Big Island closed down because of the tsunami warning after the Japan earthquake and tsunami aftermath. Our three year old was teary eyed when we left paradise but we felt worst when we found out about Japan once we got back in Washington.

Our prayers for everybody in Japan...
